After retiring from a fabulous magazine design career in 2008, Carl began writing a book. By 2013 he had completed The Crazy Thing: Starting Over from the Beginning Somewhere Near the End. Shortly before its publication, in the midst of making plans for the next one, he suffered a stroke. Reading and writing became impossible, and in 2017 he began painting and has not stopped since. It is his passion.
Carl was married to the poet Celestine Frost for 44 years. He is self-represented with a little help from his friends.
